Mick Schumacher, Michael's son, continues to climb the ladder of motorsport. The young German, European Champion of F3, will be engaged in Formula 2 in 2019.
He will still drive under the colors of Prema Racing for which he evolves since 2016 in F4 and F3. The team was already present in Formula 2 last season: the Dutchman Nyck de Vries was ranked 4th.
At 19, Schumacher junior has managed a stunning second round of the F3 Championship with eight wins since the end of July. After the first few months, he made a comeback at Spa-Francorchamps by winning Race 3 at the end of July. A victory followed by seven others that allowed him to win the title at a race of the end of the season.
"I'm looking forward to the Formula 2 season with Prema. It's a logical evolution in my sports career. I want to improve my technical experience and my skills behind the wheel. Getting into Formula 2 with Prema was very clear to me. I can not thank the Prema family enough for what we accomplished together as a team".
Mick Schumacher will make his F1 Formula 2 debut this week in Abu Dhabi for the three-day test at the Yas Marina circuit.
