Only two photographs of Vincent Van Gogh were known: a Belgian investigation showed that the first was not about him, but about his brother Theo.
Mars 2018, Yves Vbadeur, former general commissioner of Mons 2015, European Capital of Culture, enjoys a well deserved rest. Always pbadionate about the work of Vincent Van Gogh, he has just bought the book The capital of Van Gogh by Wouter Van Der Veen, published by Actes Sud. "At the center of the book, there was a small illustrated notebook with the only two known photographs of the artist, at age 13 in 1866 and at age 19 in 1873, he recalls. Until then, I had always seen the one taken at 13 years in square format, zoomed on the face. " That day, for the first time, he discovers the complete picture.
