The French court was seized to determine if a couple, obviously very fond of football and the national team, could name their son Griezmann Mbappé in tribute to the two world champion footballers last summer.

According to the local newspaper La Montagne, the couple decided to give these two names to their son born in November in Brive, in central France.

The civil status officer, estimating as allowed him the French civil code that these first names could be "contrary to the interest of the child", seized the public prosecutor, confirmed the office of the mayor of Brive daily.

If the prosecutor follows this advice, he will seize the family court which may require the change of the first name or its suppression, says the article of the civil code.

A similar case of refused name has recently experienced multiple twists, which are not completed, with the birth of little Fañch, diminutive of François in Breton in May 2017.

The civil status officer of Quimper (west) had refused to retain the Breton spelling tilde (~).
