"Resto Good Food" labels have been awarded to 13 new restaurants in the capital for "value their approach to sustainable food", announced Thursday the office of the Brussels Minister of the Environment, Céline Fremault. Some fifty establishments now bears this label.

The "Resto Good Food" label is valid for three years and is decorated with one, two or three toques. To achieve this, a series of criteria for sustainable food must be respected: the use of local and seasonal products, alternatives to animal protein, food produced with respect for the environment, while minimizing food waste, explains the ministerial press release.

From Humus & Hortense to Chambéry Neighborhood House

Among the new labels, four restaurants are awarded three toques: Humus & Hortense in Ixelles, Flexitarian in the City of Brussels, Girls in the City of Brussels and Boentje Café in Schaerbeek. Eight receive two toques: OzFair in Saint-Gilles, Chez WaWa (in Ixelles and in the City of Brussels), Bel'O in Molenbeek, Chez Augusta in Ixelles, Barattoir in Anderlecht, Doudou Miel in Schaerbeek and Farcifood in Uccle. The Chamber House Chambéry in Etterbeek is awarded a toque.

Brussels has more than 6,000 restaurants, cafés and hotels, says the office of the Minister of the Environment. About 40% of the household food budget is for meals taken outside the home, he adds.
