Last step before the start of work next spring: the market for the future tram Liege was officially attributed this morning to the badociation Tram'Ardent which brings together the Spanish operator CAF, the builder of the line Colas de Crisnée and the financial DIF.
Minister Carlo Di Antonio tweaked the news at a meeting of the OTW Board of Directors, the Transport Organization of Wallonia (the former SRWT).
So today begins a period of "stand stil" of 14 days where the parties will agree on the schedule of work. It will be officially communicated at the end of the year.
For its part, the City of Liège is delighted with this decisive step "
essential for the mobility of the City of Liège and its Metropolis. This is a very strong response to congestion that affects all major cities. "
Specifically, the tram will move twice as many people, twice as fast as the current buses and much more regularly. With its 21 stations, 1,700 parking spaces in the relay car parks, and its intermodal hubs linking the tram to trains, buses and bicycles, Liège will be equipped with an exceptional mobility tool.
The tram is also an ecological answer to air pollution since it will replace hundreds of buses in the crossing of the City. Automobile congestion will decrease by 30% in the center, for the benefit of all shoreline and commercial functions, making the living environment quieter and more pleasant.
The tram is still almost 50 hectares of quality public spaces along its route, also incorporating corridors dedicated to cyclists.
