You may have noticed if you take the highway from Wallonia or other sections: road signs are masked by vegetation.
This is the case for example on the Charleroi on the R3 or on the E42 in the province of Namur.
The photo published opposite, for example, was taken on Friday. She announces the next exit. Which ? Uh … This is the Andenne-Bierwart exit.
Size prohibited 4 months
Not all panels are camouflaged in this way, but it is not a unique case.
There is an explanation: "This year, we are following a new protocol for cutting and pruning trees," says Élodie Christophe, spokesperson for Sofico, the company that manages our highways.
"For a better respect of the environment, the fauna and the flora, it is prohibited to carry out any size or any felling of the trees along the highway, between April 1st and July 31st. In particular, we want to protect bird nesting periods.
"But that motorists are rebadured: by the end of August, everything will be back to normal," she says.
