Since Wednesday, Apple Pay is finally available in Belgium. For now, only BNP Paribas Fortis customers can take advantage of the payment system. One question is: where to use it?
Apple's mobile payment service is powered by the NFC chip in the iPhone, as well as Google Pay, the equivalent service developed on Android.
This means that it is possible to pay with the new system on all terminals equipped with contactless technology. In Belgium, around 85% of payment devices benefit, and this figure continues to grow.
On the other hand, this is not really the case for all businesses. Apple Pay is currently available for a very limited range of banners, here is the list:
Food : Aldi, Auto Grill, Burger King, Delhaize, Exki, Quick and StarBucks
Fashion and Beauty : Bershka, Brice, H & M, Here Paris XL, Jules, Mango, Mbadimo Dutti, Pull and Bear and Zara
Electro and Tech : Fnac, Krëfel, Media Markt and Vanden Borre
Various : BPost, Decathlon and Total
The list of partner stores is expected to increase over the months.
We told you, only the customers of BNP Paribas and its Hello Bank! and Fintro can now benefit from Apple Pay. However, other banks in the country should soon take the plunge.
