Alderman Damien de Keyser (LB) does not reinstate, but takes the place of president of the communal council.
Following the communal elections of October 14th, the new majority composed of the List of the Mayor (LB), Ecolo-Groen and Challenge distributed the competences within the college for the legislature 2018-2024.
As previously announced, four places of aldermen were awarded to the LB as well as the position of mayor and chair of the CPAS, while Ecolo recovers three and the list Challenge one.
Benoît Cerexhe (LB), outgoing re-elected mayor, will have in his attributions for the next six years police, security, prevention, civil status, population, sports, public relations, civil status and legal Affairs. Caroline Lhoir (Ecolo) will then focus on sustainable development, the environment, public awareness, waste policy, green spaces and animal welfare. She will also take care of nurseries and early childhood.
The third alderman Christophe de Beukelaer (LB) will be in charge of road works and public space, urban planning, mobility, digital transition and employment.
Education, academies, extracurricular and homework schools will evolve under the leadership of Françoise de Callataÿ (LB), a new member of the College.
Antoine Bertrand (Ecolo), another newcomer to the college, will deal with energy transition, public buildings, communal properties, as well as youth and economic life.
The only representative of the merging party, Carine Kolchory will serve her first term as sheriff, focusing on the family, the elderly, social affairs, health, disabled people, pensions, equal opportunities and housing.
Dominique Harmel (LB) keeps her financial, budget and guardianship-related skills on the CPAS.
The new portfolio of Pascal Lefèvre (Ecolo) includes culture, libraries, media library, continuing education, neighborhood centers, heritage funds, twinning, international and European relations and human rights.
Finally, as a Dutch-speaking elephant, Helmut De Vos (LB1150) leaves with Dutch-language education, Dutch-speaking culture, Dutch-language day-care centers and Dutch-speaking businesses.
Starting from the principle of appointing a chairman of the municipal council other than the mayor, the position goes to the outgoing alderman Damien De Keyser (LB). He succeeds in the chair to Francis Delpérée.
The establishment of this new college will be made effective at the next municipal council, Tuesday, December 4 at 20h.
