Abigail Myers, a member of the Berkshire High School class in 2021, recently completed her Gold Award project as a longtime member of the Girl Scouts, and in the process left a valuable message that everyone can benefit from.
Myers has been a member of Girl Scouts for 13 years and in her time with all of the members who have been involved in this young women leadership organization for so long, she is due to complete the Gold Award Project which requires an investment of around 100 hours. . .
Only about 5% of eligible Girl Scouts complete this milestone.
For his project, Myers chose to draw a mural that sends a message to deter bullying, and instead to uplift and inspire those around us. The mural was painted by a team she led and was stationed near the north end of Berkshire High School in Burton, near the stairwell to the large gymnasium.
Nearby the fully drawn Myers mural is an artist statement containing valuable information on resources, help lines and more to help those who may be facing bullying-type activity in their respective lives. .
Myers had a lot of help along the way to get to this pivotal moment. She thanks her mother, Lara Myers, who was her troop leader, for inspiring her to stay involved. Other friends include Annemarie Morgan and her daughter Brigit, who have also proven to be useful sources of encouragement along the way.
Abigail attends Kent State University, where she intends to study art to some extent.
