Extra butter, hold the popcorn.

The Ipic dining theater chain has just launched a menu for keto diets.

Now, those who enjoy the high-fat, low-carb keto diet can dine in dishes containing less than 5 grams of carbohydrate, as well as sugar-free cocktails and desserts, in Ipic theaters, including in the downtown Fulton Street.

The keto dieters in New York, including Ken Spencer, a 27-year-old former fitness and keto rider for the past five years, are welcome.

"When you try to live a certain lifestyle, you have to make a decision [of], do I stay on the diet or do I make a sacrifice? ", says The Upper East Sider newspaper to The Post.

Spencer – who, like many celebrity followers at Keto, believes that eating with a high-fat diet drives the body into a hot state called ketosis – did not want to just stop going to the movies. But he also did not want to sit down nonchalantly, so he smuggled his own snacks to the movies.

"Pumpkin seeds or peanuts, never popcorn or nachos," he says.

"They're going bonkers about it."

But as keto enthusiasts multiply, restaurants and entertainment venues reinforce their high-fat offerings to take advantage of the trend – and focus on the keto-ok'ed indulgences, such as chest pork, cheese, steak and butter.

New York's best keto restaurants join the race, like Hu Kitchen and Fresh & Co. Both serve their own version of "keto bowls", with meat, vegetables and greasy avocados.

Meanwhile, BarBacon, at Hell's Kitchen and Union Square, has become a kind of meaty mecca for keto eaters: most of the dishes on the menu, which feature 10 different kinds of bacon, are marked with a variety of flavors. a "K" to indicate that they & # 39; Be sure for those who diet, says chief-owner Peter Sherman.

"They are fed up and feel healthy," says Sherman of people who order keto bites, which include bacon and breast-style nachos, served on crispy pork rinds instead of potato chips. (Some doctors and dieticians warn of the keto diet because of its high saturated fat content and difficulty maintaining it.)

Ipic CEO, Hamid Hachemi, told the newspaper that he had lost 30 pounds since he started following the keto diet in September 2018. Dinner at the restaurant – in his own theaters and in general – was particularly difficult for him because his diet restricts gluten, sugar and even vegetables and fruits.

"Most people can understand how to change an entree, but drinks and desserts were the hardest part," says Hashemi, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

To have something indulgent to eat outside the house, he was furiously preparing for the preparation of keto desserts every Sunday night, including the Key Lime Bars and Cheese Cake, of which versions are offered on the Ipic Keto menu (for $ 6 and $ 10, respectively).

Ipic cocktails at $ 14 include Anti-rita, which contains light tequila, a simple keto-compatible syrup made with a sugar substitute and sparkling lemonade soda. Lean meat dishes with steak skewers ($ 24), cups of Angus burger lettuce ($ 17) and buttermilk fried chicken with almond flour ($ 19).

You can expect to see more menus like these as the trend continues to gain ground with New York's food keto.

Jaime Herrera, owner of the Mexican restaurant La Loteria in the West Village, lost 20 pounds in two months to the keto diet. He plans to unveil his own keto menu this weekend at the restaurant, making simple exchanges with some of his customers' favorites – for example, serving queso fundido (loaded with calories, but approved by the keto) with potato chips. jicama instead of tortilla chips.

"It's hard, you have to sort of customize your order every time you go out," says the 31-year-old chef from the financial district, who, with his new menu, hopes to show keto enthusiasts must not necessarily be all or nothing. "There is a peace of mind knowing that you will not be angry when you eat a donut."
