GOLDEN GLOBE 2021 FORECAST:
BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOVING IMAGE
UPDATED: Jan. 3, 2021
PRICE COMMENT:
With the news that Stanley Tucci has been removed from this category by the HFPA and that the men in “One Night in Miami” have gone down the support path after the Globes forced them to stick together, this category could take a very different from what might ultimately end up happening with the Academy. For example, we could find Kingsley Ben-Adir joining his co-star Leslie Odom, Jr as a nominee. The HFPA has struggled in the past to build consensus around a large ensemble (an example being the blocking of all the players in “Spotlight”). Sacha Baron Cohen assured a nomination (maybe a victory?) For “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”, will they transmit it in this space? In fact, how many double (or even potential triples) candidates will the HFPA have? Will they feel compelled to spread the love? February 3 will tell.
