Beyond the meat has landed yet another partnership.
HelloFresh will begin offering the Beyond Burger in its meal kits in the United States starting the week of September 14th. The vegan hamburger has been on the menu of the Berlin company in Canada since July.
Blue Apron, its American rival, announced last month the creation of its own partnership with Beyond Meat. In June, Blue Apron proceeded with a consolidation of shares in order to keep the stock price above $ 1 and avoid being delisted from the New York Stock Exchange. .
While Blue Apron is struggling to cope with unfair subscribers and competition from new meal kit companies, HelloFresh has announced its profitable first quarter since its listing on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in 2017. Its international activities include profitable for two years.
CEO and co-founder of HelloFresh, Dominik Richter, emphasizes the success of the company, which includes both the latest trends that attract their attention. This includes the meatless meat trend, led by Beyond and his rival, Impossible Foods.
"We know that appetite for vegetarian or vegan alternatives to meat is certainly a trend we can feel among HelloFresh's customers," Richter said in an interview.
Flexitarians – people looking to reduce their meat intake – are behind the trend towards meat of plant origin. The NPD Group found that 95% of vegan hamburger buyers also bought beef hamburgers in the last year. The market for meat substitutes is expected to reach $ 2.5 billion by 2023, according to Euromonitor estimates.
Investor enthusiasm for Beyond's potential to capitalize on the trend has driven the stock price up 480% since its initial public offering. Beyond stocks jumped 2% during morning trading on Monday. The company holds 2.1% market share of meat substitutes, according to Euromonitor. However, in recent weeks, the stock has fallen as a result of a secondary stock offering and a sell-off in the market.
