Currently Associate Vice President for ITS and Chief Information Officer at Ferris State University, Koneru will lead the organization and staff of the University Technology Services Office and be responsible for planning and delivering the technology deployment of the University. information at the university level.
A 13-member research committee chaired by the associate vice-president for finance and administration Tom LeMarbe reviewed the qualifications and experience of over 30 applicants and narrowed the search down to an area of four highly qualified finalists. Chief of Staff Joshua Merchant chose to offer the job to Koneru.
“The research committee and I were impressed with Bhavani’s vast experience in higher education, his bold ideas for advancing information technology in an institution the size of Oakland, as well as his solid understanding of the need to balance centralized and decentralized services, ”said Chief of Staff Joshua Merchant.

In Ferris State, Koneru oversees the university’s information technology strategies and computer systems to ensure they support strategic goals; student success, teaching excellence and operational efficiency.
She also leads the IT organization of more than 100 University members, which is responsible for providing a robust and secure IT environment, reliable infrastructure and viable business applications.
“The strategic vision of Reimagining OU shared by President Pescovitz and the view of the university leadership on technology as a building block to realize this vision strongly attracted me to Oakland University,” said Koneru said.
