President-elect Joe Biden is expected to appoint Jake Sullivan as national security adviser and Linda Thomas-Greenfield as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, several sources familiar with the plans told NBC News.

Sullivan served in the Obama administration as the National Security Advisor to then-Vice President Biden before becoming Director of Policy Planning at the State Department and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Secretary of State.
