President Joe Biden will deliver remarks on Monday on the government’s response to Covid-19 and vaccination efforts in the country.

Biden’s remarks come just hours after the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr Rochelle Walensky, issued a terrible warning to reporters. She said she fears the United States faces a “looming catastrophe” as daily Covid-19 cases start to rebound again, threatening to send more people to hospital even as vaccinations s ‘are accelerating nationwide.

U.S. health officials are urging Americans to get vaccinated as quickly as possible while following pandemic safety measures.

A CDC study of healthcare workers and other essential workers released on Monday found that Pfizer and Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccines were 80% effective in preventing coronavirus infections two weeks after a single dose. Two doses were better than one, with vaccine effectiveness rising to 90 percent two weeks after the second dose, the agency found.
