Biden plays Mario Kart with his granddaughter at Camp David

Regardless of the impeachment trial – President Biden spent time playing video games with his granddaughter over a weekend at Camp David, the presidential retreat in the mountains of Maryland.

Naomi Biden, daughter of Hunter Biden, posted in an Instagram story on Saturday that her grandfather had “barely” beaten her in a “Mario Kart” game.

“The Secret Service made an exception and allowed him to drive himself,” she posted, linking to a short video of them playing video games. “A little rusty, but still won (barely).”

The White House said Biden and his family were spending the weekend at Camp David for the first time since joining the White House in January.

Other than meeting his national security team, the president has nothing else on his schedule.

He arrived there in a motorcade on Friday afternoon after Air Force One landed in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Despite the impeachment trial of his predecessor, President Donald Trump, which continues on Saturday, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Biden would watch the trial “a bit” but said he would leave it is up to the Senate to decide on a result.

Trump was acquitted in a 57-43 vote.

Biden’s administration was also embroiled in a scandal on Saturday as another spokesperson, TJ Ducklo, resigned for threatening a reporter who planned to write about his relationship with another reporter.

The heavily guarded seaside resort in the mountains allowed Dwight Eisenhower’s presidents to escape the glare of the spotlight.

Guests navigate their way through rustic lodges using golf carts and can enjoy tennis courts, horseshoe pits, swimming pool, golf driving range, as well as tobogganing, ice skating and snowmobiling, the government says on its Camp David website.
