Games like Marvel’s Midnight Suns, as well as restarting Saints Street, were all new showcase revelations. Additionally, gamers learned of several new release dates for games like Horizon forbidden to the west and Infinite halo. Of course, the biggest news this week was all the announcements for Gamescom’s Opening Night Live show, which brought in a ton of news for AAA games. Compared to last year’s showcase, this year’s live opening night lasted two hours, featuring announcements from Xbox, PlayStation, as well as many third-party titles. Here are the highlights of the Opening Night Live showcase:
- Marvel’s Midnight Suns: Apparently prevalent previously with the “Marvel XCOM game”, Firaxis announced Marvel’s Midnight Suns: a tactical RPG “set in the darker side of the Marvel universe”. While the initial trailer was vague, Firaxis is apparently taking an ambitious approach with Midnight Suns‘development, citing that it will play very differently than what gamers expect from an XCOM game.
- Saints Street: Previously teased earlier this year, Deep Silver Volition has finally unveiled the new Saints Street Game. Acting as a soft restart for the franchise, Saints Street takes a comparatively more grounded approach compared to previous entries. The reboot is released on February 22, 2022.
- Infinite halo, infinite-Console and controller inspired by Xbox Series X: After a surprise trailer after Xbox’s own Gamescom showcase, Infinite halo finally received its release date on December 8, 2021. Along with the game’s release, Microsoft designed both an exclusivity Infinite halo Xbox Series X controller and console. Additionally, some narrative details were revealed in a trailer following a Spartan commander.
- Call of Duty: The Vanguard: Likewise, the next entry in the Call of Duty the franchise received its first dedicated story and first gameplay trailer. Players will follow several key players in WWII, including Russian sniper Polina, as they fulfill their roles in the great war. Avant-garde releases November 5, 2021.
- Horizon forbidden to the west Delay: Horizon forbidden to the westThe release date of has been officially delayed by PlayStation, announcing a new release date of February 18, 2022.

Acting as some kind of action RPG inspired by Pokemon, the Black Desert Online the developers have unveiled a very stylish and unique monster collecting RPG with a visually stunning trailer.

Destiny 2 unveils trailer and gameplay for Witch Queen expansion
This week also brought the revelations for next year of Destiny 2 content to come with The Witch Queen. Following hints throughout Season of the Splicer, as well as the previous ones Destiny 2 traditions, Savathun is finally making its grand entry into Destiny 2the main story of. Holder McCree is expected to receive a new name in Monitoring in response to the lawsuit and the backlash from fans and employees.
Epic Games and Time Magazine launch Fortnite MLK Jr.
Epic Games Partners With Time Magazine To Produce “March Through Time”, A Playable Community event in Fortnite creative fashion that celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Players can explore pivotal moments in civil rights history, while interacting with a reinvented Washington DC as MLK Jr. delivers his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech. Many Fortnite emotes have been completely disabled for this event.
Pokemon GO Backlash on Covid Measures Lifted
Niantic cancels some of the Covid-19 security measures set up during the pandemic that allowed fans to play Pokémon GO safely during quarantine. Now, players used to the doubled radius for interacting with Pokemon Gyms and PokeStops will now need to play the game as it was previously known before the pandemic. Several players have organized a boycott and are protesting against Niantic for apparently removing these quality of life features despite the increase in cases of the Delta variant in the United States.
Microsoft Brings Cloud Gaming to Xbox One Consoles
As Microsoft continues to expand its efforts in game streaming technology, Xbox Cloud Gaming will soon bring the next-generation gaming experience to older consoles. This holiday season, Microsoft has announced that Cloud Gaming is coming to all Xbox One consoles as well as Xbox Series X / S. This fall, the program will roll out to Xbox Insider testers, but no concrete release date has yet been announced.
