Hal Ketchum died of complications from dementia. He was 67 years old.
News of the country music star’s death was shared with Ketchum fans in a post via an official Facebook account on Tuesday. The 17-time leader of the Billboard chart died on Monday evening, the statement said.
“With great sadness and sorrow, we report that Hal passed away peacefully at home last night due to complications from dementia,” wrote Andrea Ketchum, Hal Ketchum’s wife. “May his music live forever in your hearts and bring you peace,” she wrote.
Andrea Ketchum revealed in April 2019 that Hal Ketchum had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. According to the announcement, at the time, he had already been battling this debilitating disease “for quite some time now.”

“But because of his love for his fans, he kept playing for as long as possible,” Andrea Ketchum wrote in a social media post. “Dementia is a grueling and confusing illness and now is the time for Hal to stay home with loved ones.”
Some of Ketchum’s most legendary hits include “Long Haired Country Boy,” for which he was nominated for a Country Music Association Award in 1997, and “Hearts Are Gonna Roll”.

Crooner’s 1991 album “Small Town Saturday Night” “Past the Point of Rescue” also earned gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America. During his career, which began in the 1980s, Ketchum released eleven studio albums – with his first coming in 1986.
Ketchum’s most recent releases were “Father Time” in 2008 and “I’m the Troubadour” in 2014.
