Recently, Sony introduced Game Trials very quietly. This new scheme essentially allows you to play a full game for a limited period of time, after which you will need to purchase the software to continue. This is a great concept, but at the moment the number of titles supported is very low. However, Biomutant may have gone unnoticed.
This PlayStation 4 game only confirms that service isn’t just a PS5 thing; For the month of October, THQ Nordic’s colorful open-world action game will be available for free trial:
You will have five hours and the trial play will be available by October 28 at 11:59 p.m. local time. As with other games in the program, any progress you make and any trophies you earn will be retained if you decide to purchase the title after the trial is complete.
Of course, the major mistake in all of this has still not been fixed. That is, the five hour trial period starts from the moment you trigger the download. This means that a significant portion of the trial could be eaten away while you wait for your console to download and install the game. Depending on your connection speed, this could potentially make the entire exercise unnecessary.
Hopefully Sony will change that in the future, but for now at least new games are joining the Game Trial service. We will notify you when more free game trials appear. Are you going to test Biomutant? Play kung fu in the comments section below.
