Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer Adds Long Overdue Feature

Call of Duty: Cold War Black Ops Multiplayer adds a long-awaited feature that PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC gamers have been asking for since launch. Specifically, Treyarch’s Community Manager, on Reddit, has confirmed that the ranked game is coming to the game, however, at this time, the Community Manager has no schedule to share. And at the moment, there are no details on how it will be implemented and what that means for the game’s multiplayer mode.

For example, it’s not clear whether casual playlists will continue to use skill-based matchmaking, also known as SBMM. A ranked mode and a casual mode using SBMM are more or less the same thing, so if ranked mode is added, you would assume that SBMM will be removed, or at least collapsed, in casual playlists. However, for now, this is only speculation.

Unfortunately, while Treyarch has confirmed that the feature is in the works, it’s unclear when it will be implemented or when more details will be shared.

We don’t know why either Call of Duty: Cold War Black Ops didn’t ship with a ranked mode, and it’s also unclear why it hasn’t been added yet. There has been a lot of demand since launch, but we’re two months away from release and it still hasn’t been added.

In addition to a ranked mode, it also looks like Call of Duty: Cold War Black Ops is preparing to add one of the Modern Warfare’s most controversial weapons. Beyond that, there isn’t much going on with the game right now, however, tomorrow when the game’s mid-season update goes live that should change.

Call of Duty: Cold War Black Ops is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. For more coverage on the 2020 shooting game and all things COD – including all the latest news, rumors and leaks – click here or check out some of the relevant links below:
