Blizzard has big plans for the Overwatch universe

Overwatch has been one of the most important and successful games of this generation on PS4, Xbox One and PC. And although he's almost three years old, he still has a lot of passionate players, partly because it's a Blizzard game, but also because he's been very well supported. It is therefore hardly surprising that Activision Blizzard has ambitious plans for the game world. What this means is everyone's best guess, but it's exciting for Overwatch Fans are hoping for more content beyond the support of the current hero shooter.

"Last quarter, I talked about the great ambition we have for the Overwatch the universe and how it can evolve over time, "said Blizzard boss J Allen Brack in a recent investor interview. "Overwatch Blizzard is a huge tent franchise. We continue to dedicate the resources and attention to continue to grow the community and franchise over time. "

To achieve this, Blizzard starts this year by adding new cards, new heroes and "new experiences" to the game. However, the team does not just support the hero shooter, according to Brack, she also works on another job. Unfortunately, Brack did not say more than that, but it seems to be a whole new game in the Overwatch universe.

In any case, it is clear that Overwatch go well beyond the current 2016 shooter. The question now is: what form is it going to enter? Other types of media? A direct follow-up? A completely different spin-off game in the Overwatch universe? It's hard to say, but "ambitious" seems to suggest more than just a sequel.

Overwatch is available for PS4, Xbox One and PC. At the time of publication, no Nintendo Switch port has been announced.
