BMW X6 M50i spied showing his style and performance

Until the new X6 M arrives inevitably, the X6 M50i is the top-range of the upcoming coupé-inspired crossover lineup. This video shows a test mule as the fast and elegant vehicle bypasses the Nürburgring.

This example has the same "M CI 1042" plate as the X6 in the May 6 spy photos (gallery below). Engineers do not remove camouflage in the new video, but the clip provides at least an opportunity to see the machine moving. It also makes a pleasantly aggressive sound.

Compared to the previous generation, the new X6 carries BMW's wider grille, like the latest X7 and 7 series. The downward slope of the roofline is steeper, which creates a sharper aesthetic at the back.

The cabin of the X6 should be familiar to anyone familiar with modern BMWs by offering a pair of digital displays, one for the instruments and the other for infotainment. State-of-the-art driver assistance technology would also be available.

The M50i variant will likely use BMW's 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, which produces 523 horsepower (390 kilowatts) and 553 pound-feet (750 Newton-meters) of torque. The engine will transmit power through an eight-speed Steptronic transmission to an all-wheel drive system.

We expect the X6 M50i and its less powerful siblings to debut before the end of the year, perhaps as early as the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Depending on the market, sales should start in late 2019 or early 2020. If this version does not offer enough performance to meet the needs of the buyer, the X6 M is expected to be around 600 bhp (447 kW) when it will arrive in 2020.
