Authorities in Minnesota released police body camera footage of a raid on a man’s home after he was shot by police officers last week, as cops were too aggressive when they executed their search warrant.

The video, released by the Hennepin County Sheriff on Saturday, shows the officers engaged in the “hit and report” search warrant at the home of 23-year-old Dolal Idd, just hours after being shot in a confrontation with cops on Wednesday.

The footage shows cops arriving at Idd’s home around 2am Thursday, knocking on the door with guns in hand, shouting, “Police! Search warrant! Let me see your hands!

Once inside, police rounded up more than half a dozen people, including children, women and a shirtless man, the video shows.

“We have kids upstairs, we have kids,” a woman told the cops. “We have a daughter downstairs, a 19 year old daughter.

Another woman asks, “Can you tell us anything about what’s going on?”

One of the cops replies that an officer will explain everything.

“He’ll come talk to you in a second,” he says when the woman fidgets.

The search took place following Idd’s gunshot death at a Minneapolis gas station around 5 p.m. Wednesday – after police said he first shot at officers.

Bodycam video of this incident shows Idd trying to get away from the police. He is cornered by three patrol vehicles and seen holding an object that appears to be a firearm when police open fire.

Police said a gun was later found at the scene.

But the subsequent raid on the house after Idd, who was Somali, was gunned down raised concerns among some community activists and elected officials.

“I see no respect for family,” Minnesota state lawmaker Hodan Hassan told the nonprofit Sahan Journal news site. “I don’t see any cultural sensitivity. And I don’t see any compassion.

However, the sheriff’s office said it released footage of the police raid to show the officers were behaving correctly and humanely.

“Based on his viewing of the video, the sheriff praised his deputies for their professionalism and said they acted appropriately, respectfully and followed the HCSO procedure for high risk warrants,” said the office in a statement.

Police did not recover any weapons from the house, but said there were probable reasons to believe there might be guns in the house.

The Idd shooting was the first death implicated by police in Minneapolis since the death in custody of George Floyd on May 25.
