The city of New York may be too good for Amazon – but Newark, New Jersey, certainly is not.

Senator Cory Booker (D-N.J.) Asks Amazon to consider installing her second seat in Newark, after New York City rejected the company and sent her packing.

Newark was already on the list of 20 finalists at Amazon's head office for Amazon City.

After a lengthy, multi-month search, Amazon announced its decision in November 2018 to divide its second head office between Crystal City, Virginia and Long Island City in the New York City neighborhood of Queens.

Some state and local officials have been outraged by Amazon's investment projects in New York. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Whose district includes the Bronx and part of Queens, has become the most prominent opponent of Amazon's development in the city.

Polls showed that about 70% of New Yorkers supported Amazon's investments in that state.

But finally, Ocasio-Cortez (pictured above left) and local New Yorkers are retreating Amazon, which surprised the country.

"For Amazon, the commitment to build a new headquarters requires positive collaborative relationships with local and local elected officials who will provide support in the long term," the statement said.

Although New York was apparently too good for Amazon, Newark thinks exactly the opposite.

Booker, a former mayor of Newark, runs for the presidency of the Democratic Party in 2020 to challenge President Donald Trump.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy (D) also urged Amazon to travel to Newark, noting that he had contacted Amazon and that he "was pursuing a constant dialogue".

"New Jersey is open to business and, more than ever, Newark is the obvious choice as the next presence for Amazon's corporate offices," Murphy said, according to Fox Business.
