Jonathan Sehring, co-president of IFC Films Exiting – Variety

IFC Films Co – President Jonathan Sehring will leave the company at the end of the year.

The veteran executive announced his plans Wednesday. He helped launch the Independent Film Channel in 1994 and created IFC Films in 1999.

IFC Films will be led by a trio of the latest IFC Films executives: Sehring Co-President Lisa Schwartz; Arianna Bocco, Executive Vice President, Acquisitions and Production; and John Vanco, Executive Vice President / General Manager of the IFC Center.

Sehring said he had two careers at AMC Networks, including 20 years in film and 20 years in television. AMC Networks is the parent company of IFC Films. IFC Films brings together its sister brands Sundance Selects and IFC Midnight, its production brand IFC Productions and the IFC Center.

Under Sehring's leadership, IFC Films funded Richard Linklater's "Boyhood" for 12 years, leading to six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. Other notable IFC titles include "The Death of Stalin" by Armando Iannucci: "The Babadook" by Jennifer Kent; political documentary "Weiner"; "Y Tu Mama Tambien"; "Boys do not cry"; "Wedding at the monsoon"; "Touching the Void": "Fahrenheit 9/11" by Michael Moore, the most profitable documentary of all time; and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", the second largest figure among independent films.
