Palapye – The Central District Council was applauded for being the first to launch child protection committees in all of its seven subdistricts.

Ms. Tshireletso stated that it was now up to the Department of Social and Community Development, as coordinator, to ensure quality standards. The committees were fully functional and mobilized resources for district activities.
She noted that the provision of services for children is weak coordination at various levels, lack of spirit of volunteerism, poor networking and information exchange. The deputy minister urged everyone to work collectively for the children's lives.
Even though she knew of the lack of resources as one of the constraints, she urged them to do their best with the little that they had to make sure they did. Tshireletso said the government, through his ministry, had invested heavily in efforts to promote the rights and well-being of the child, which had been well articulated in the 2009 law on the children.
