Francistown – Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Thato Kwerepe encouraged learners to start their own business and employ their peers at the end of their basic education using the skills acquired in their practical subjects. Mr. Kwerepe said this during the official opening of the national fair of practical topics in Francistown on July 10th.

He also indicated that at the end of secondary education, learners would have acquired the professional and entrepreneurial skills necessary to join "I wish to encourage learners to take seriously the practical and practical topics to be learned the opportunities given to them by the government and non-governmental organizations

He then explained that one of the main intentions of the fair, among others, was to give students the opportunity to showcase their talents in practical subjects and to promote cohesion and transfer skills.

"The fair offers all students who study these practical subjects the opportunity to compete in a fair environment," he added.

For his part, the national coordinator of practical subjects, Mr. Benny Phiri explained that the fair was a combination of seven subjects competing under one roof to impart practical skills to students.

Mr. Phiri pointed out that students and teachers shared ideas as they came together, adding practical topics exposed He also observed that the practical subjects in Botswana faced a number of financial challenges and lack of tools and resources.

Meanwhile Ms. Bose Tema, Acting Director of the Northeast Region, stressed that it was important for students across the country to try to meet in one place and share experiences and learn from each other.
