March 29 (Reuters) – The economy of Botswana grew faster by 3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018, following a 0.3 percent slowdown in the third quarter, office data showed. statistics on Friday.

On an annual basis, gross domestic product (GDP) increased 4.1% in the fourth quarter, following a 6.4% increase in the same period in 2017.

Botswana statistics indicated that the main contributors were extractive industries, transport and communications, as well as finance and business services.

Botswana's economy is expected to grow more slowly this year than in 2018, Finance Minister Kenneth Matambo said last month.
