Congo: The Ebola outbreak will definitely last 3-4 more months

BENI, Congo (AP) – Congo's health minister has said that the second-ever Ebola outbreak, the deadliest in history, should "certainly" continue for three or four months.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Health Minister Oly Ilunga also sought on Thursday to allay concerns over a presidential election in which people will use touch screen voting machines. The deadly Ebola virus is spread by infected body fluids.

Several tons of hand sanitizer were deployed for use at polling stations.

The minister described this epidemic as the most complex epidemic in history amid attacks by rebel groups.

He added that his main concerns remained related to the possible spread of the Ebola virus in other major cities in eastern Congo and across the border with Uganda.

But in an optimistic development, he sees "a clear, clear and clear improvement" in the community's response to Ebola efforts.
