Five people were killed and 141 wounded in clashes between different ethnic groups in the west coast of Ivory Coast, the government said on Wednesday.
Fighting broke out on November 21 between the communities of Yacouba and Malinké in the city of Zouan-Hounien, said government spokesman Sidi Toure.
The clashes took place after the death of a student in circumstances that were not yet clear, said a police source.
Four people were arrested and an investigation opened, the spokesman said.
Two people were killed and many more injured last October as a result of a real estate conflict that escalated into violence, resulting in the escape of 1,500 people in the area.
