Choppies supermarkets of former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko were confiscated by the Zimbabwe Tax Administration (Zimra) after the company breached its obligations. Some of the confiscated property was donated to Bulawayo United Hospital (UBH) and Ingutsheni Hospital. Sources at Mpilo Hospital said,

Last week we received more than 50 cartons of 500 ml of government Mayonnaise sauce. The sauce was marked with the logo of Choppies

… We have already started serving our patients with the sauce.

Mphoko is currently engaged in a battle to control the supermarket chain with former Botswana president Festus Mogae. Mogae alleges that Mphoko owns only 7% of the supermarket chain, which has earned it the leading figure of the company, because Zimbabwe did not allow foreigners to own more than 49% of any business.
