WINDHOEK – Mobile telecommunications company (MTC) Namibia and Huawei on Monday night commemorated a ten-year partnership resulting in substantial market penetration.

Chinese company Huawei and MTC have entered into a technology transfer partnership with MTC, owned by the Namibian government, over the past decade, making a significant contribution to the company's growth.

Speaking at the tenth anniversary celebrations in Windhoek, Namibian President Hage Geingob said the partnership was a solid foundation for showing that better South-South cooperation offers fair business opportunities.

"This partnership has helped to ensure that Namibians have access to the latest mobile communication technologies and to stay on par with our global peers," Geingob said.

Geingob also reiterated that the growing partnership between the two companies reflected growing trade ties between China and Namibia.

"As we foster smart partnerships between Namibian and foreign companies, it is important that these partnerships and relationships are mutually beneficial, and that Namibians benefit in the short and long term," he added.

Geingob praised the technology transfer in Namibia led by both companies.
