Kanye West's request for a dome killed his first match at Coachella

Kanye West could have made one of the 2019 editions of Coachella and the Governor's Ball, but his commitment to a particular artistic vision has nullified both of these opportunities.

West had been locked as one of Coachella's headliners until January 1, one day before the 2019 training has been officially announced, a new Display panel the report reveals. But as time pbaded before this announcement, West made an unusual request to Coachella's promoter.

He wanted to spend his performance on the main stage and go instead to a giant dome erected in the center of the festival grounds. West envisioned John McGuire, set designer and hard-working collaborator, sketching the makeshift arena; the rapper would then have performed on a stage in the center.

The leaders of Promoter Coachella, Goldenvoice, told West that it was impossible. The entire festival venue should be refitted to meet its demand, which would involve (among other things) the search for a new home for much of the portable bathrooms.

West would be pissed off here, Display panel notes, "stating that he was an artist with a creative vision who should not spend his time talking about port-a-potties." Then he hung up. The festival therefore stirred things up, giving Tame Impala the Coachella Saturday headliners and locked to Ariana Grande to replace West on both the Sunday night of the festival.

The call did not come out of nowhere. The agreement of West West Coachella would have been concluded since "years" and its camp had pushed Goldenvoice to build the dome. He felt that Coachella's main scene was not big enough (Beyoncé could say as much). In response, he was told that the Coachella scene is one of the largest in North America.

This was apparently not an isolated incident. the Display panel The story also notes that West was about to become the star at the annual Governor & # 39; s Ball festival in New York. Again, he came to the promoters of the event with his last-minute dome request and was rejected. The agreement was broken one day before the announcement of his training.
