At least two people died from a cholera outbreak in northwestern Zimbabwe, fearing more cases and deaths from rains. According to health officials on Tuesday night, the latest outbreak affected 26 people in a mining area in the Mount Darwin district northwest of the capital Harare, where a similar epidemic killed many people between July and September.

Officials said the first cases were reported Sunday and two people died.

Most of those affected are artisbad miners operating in squalid conditions.

The epidemic comes about two months after health officials have declared the Harare episode defeated.

It also comes as the first rains of the 2018/19 agricultural season have just started after a late start. The rainy season is usually badociated with the spread of water-borne diseases such as diarrhea and cholera.
