While Balasaheb Thackeray's performance in Nawazuddin Siddiqui's trailer earned him rave reviews on social media platforms, the trailer also struggled with dialogue and sensitive moments. A day after the launch of the trailer, actor Siddharth of Rang De Basanti takes it to its authors for spreading hatred in the name of entertainment.

Siddharth consulted Twitter and, in a series of tweets, pointed out that some dialogue, which is repeated in the trailer, is a "hate speech against the South Indians". He went on to say that in a propaganda film like this, producers sell hatred with "romance and heroism" and showed no solidarity with the many South Indians who contributed to Mumbai in different ways.
