Sony publishes the trailer of Venom rom-com, effectively killing the humor

It's not as fun when they're in the know

If there is something about which we, as a people, can agree, it is that Venom was an absurd movie. The absurdity has come to the point where many moviegoers have seen Sony's film Spider Man spinoff is more like a romantic comedy, a concept that is taken both as a joke and a little seriously, depending on who you ask. In response, we have this.

With title cards and music that looks more like something from one Love, actually following, this announcement shows that Sony is pretty connected to the Venom same which have circulated since then. At the same time, cynical, I think this ad is a bit too wink-wink-nudge-nudge.

Venom It was not a good movie, but I enjoyed watching. Despite its various flaws, it was a fun topic of conversation, and turning the film into something completely different in our minds was a fun exercise. Now, big business is trying to please too, and I'm not in the game. It's like when you explain a joke between your friends and your parents and that they try to understand it too.

Now, if Sony had to cut the entire movie as a romantic comedy, then things could be interesting. If you want to recognize the joke, you have to engage fully. I think the movie works like a strange thing, but I'm sure fans would like such an effort. Venom will be released in digital HD on December 11 and in Blu-Ray on December 18, which is ridiculously soon, as the film was just screened in October.
