Steenkamp stated that although Amusan was a serious threat, she believed she had a chance at her second African title. Steenkamp now believes that she is constantly falling below 13 seconds so it's only a matter of time before she posts time at below 12.7. This would bring it even closer to where the best hedges in the world are.
"I feel like I have it in me, and it's going to unfold at the right time, I just want to keep momentum and run 12.8s regularly," Steenkamp said. "I've already set my sights on 12.7 seconds and faster."
