Stuck on an old PPC Mac? It's cool: they're still great machines and I have an old Powerbook myself that I keep as a guest laptop. Unfortunately, the problem is that, even though these machines are still excellent for lighter computing tasks, they have mostly been useful – browsing and sending lightweight e-mails – has become increasingly difficult, thanks to dizzying advances of HTML5 and CSS3 and the decision of the browser makers to leave the PPC architecture.
PublicityThe excellent Mozilla Firefox browser has decided with version 4 to abandon the support of the PPC architecture, but fortunately, TenFourFox, which takes Firefox 4 and makes it operational under OS X 10.4 and 10.5, with versions precisely adapted to each PPC processor.
What does it mean? The Firefox 4 advanced Javascript engine, WebM video support, HTML5 and CSS3 on your old Mac. This old Mac might still have a little Facebook on Facebook.
