The first trailer is out for Natalie PortmanThe next science fiction drama astronaut called Lucy in the sky. The film was previously titled Pale blue point, and it comes from Legion and Fargo writer Noah Hawley. This marks his debut in the making of a feature film.
The story will explore the theory that astronauts lose contact with reality after extended periods in space. Portman embodies a woman astronaut named Lucy Cola who, after returning from a mission in space, begins to crumble when she faces her seemingly perfect American dream life.
She ends up having an affair with a fellow astronaut (Jon Hamm), which, as you can imagine, begins to lose control when he begins to sleep with an astronaut trainee. Dan Stevens stars like Lucy's husband in the movie. The film is based on the alleged criminal activities of astronaut Lisa Nowak, related to her love affair with astronaut William Oefelein.
It looks like a very heavy but solid film. Here is the summary that has been published:
An astronaut returns to Earth after a long mission and starts an affair with another astronaut. She enters an infernal spiral when she loses her bond with her family – a condition that can plague those who spend a lot of time in space – and when her lover embarks on a new adventure with an astronaut trainee, the bottom sinks.
Lucy in the Sky is also a star Zazie Beetz, Nick Offerman, Tig Notaro, Ellen Burstyn, Colman Domingo, and Joe Williamson.
Fox Searchlight will release the movie later this year, in 2019. Watch the trailer and tell us what you think!
