Tsar anti-corruption – Kaifala speaking at the conference on governance in Africa

Sierra Leone's anti-corruption tsar, Francis Ben Kaifala, arrived in Botswana to speak at the African Union conference on "Governance in Africa". He will deliver an address on the theme of "Winning the fight against corruption: A sustainable path to the transformation of Africa".

The two-day high-level dialogue begins today on November 28 and ends on November 30, 2018.

A little over four months ago, Francis Ben Kaifala was appointed head of the Sierra Leone Anti-Graft Agency. Advancing its "radical transparency campaign" in the fight against corruption as part of President Julius Maada Bio's vision of a new leadership for Sierra Leone, Francis Ben Kaifala has transformed the Anti-Corruption Commission.

It has positively changed the perception of the population and has attracted the attention of Africa and the world as a concrete example of how corruption should be fought.

Testifying to this courageous leadership campaign, the "People's Commissar" – as many Sierra Leoneans commonly refer to it, Francis Ben Kaifala has become a highly respected icon on the African continent.

Since taking office in June 2018, Kaifala has been extremely busy helping to repair the image of the country, which was previously degraded, and to give a voice to the anti-corruption revolution in Africa.

Commissioner Ben Kaifala will share the podium with prominent figures such as Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Nigerian President Muhamadu Buhari (Photo)Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chadian and Chairman of the African Union Commission, Thabo Mvuyela Mbeki, former President of South Africa, Botswana.

The African Union High Level Dialogue Forum in Gaborone is the main event closing the year – 2018 – which has been proclaimed the year of the fight against corruption in Africa, organized by the Africa Governance Secretariat African Union Governance and Advisory Council on Corruption.
