WINTHROP – Blooming Prairie’s big-goal offense was in full view on Saturday as the Awesome Blossoms struck early and often in a 54-8 win over Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a battle in Mid Southeast District, White Subdistrict football undefeated Saturday afternoon.

Blooming Prairie (6-0) amassed 575 total yards of attack compared to 218 for the Thunderbirds and is averaging 13.4 yards per game.

The senior quarterback had four touchdowns and 252 passing yards (13 of 20) for the Awesome Blossoms. Tyler Archer led the rushing game with nine carries for 198 yards (22 yards per carry) and two touchdowns. He also received a touchdown from 37 yards and had three total touchdowns in the first quarter.

GFW’s Treay Taylor was limited in the backfield, finishing with 20 carries for 53 yards and a 7-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Taylor also had four catches for 33 yards.

GFW quarterback Brody Hentges finished 9 for 19 for 64 passing yards and Jack Panitzke also had 36 rushing yards for the Thunderbirds.

Archer and Awesome Blossoms wasted no time getting on the board as Archer took the second run of the scrum and ran 48 yards four a touchdown and a 6-0 lead. After a punt from GFW, Archer was off to runs again, this time for a 71-yard touchdown that took him to 12-0.

The Thunderbirds were forced to kick again on their next possession, but they recovered a fumble on that punt and recovered the ball on Blooming Prairie 15. Brady Kittelson finished the scoring for the Awesome Blossoms with a 63-yard rush in the fourth quarter. He finished with two carries for 73 yards and Drew Kittleson had three for 28 yards and the score.

Jordison finished the game with four catches with a 95-yard reception and two touchdowns and Carson Brennecke caught five passes for 70 yards.

Jack Panitzke and Hentges each had four tackles for the Thunderbirds. GFW are looking to return to the winning column next Friday when they host Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.
