Willie E. Smith, Chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College, is one of 25 leaders selected for the Aspen New Presidents Fellowship promotion.
The program supports community college presidents in the early years of their tenure as they aim to achieve higher and more equitable levels of achievement for students. It is part of the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program.
The fellows were selected through a highly competitive process. Starting later this year, they will participate in residential sessions and virtual learning for nine months to develop strategies to meet their student achievement and equity goals with data to assess challenges and progress.

The community leadership program is designed to engage participants and increase their understanding of their parish.
