Break Out The Barf Bags: The landing attempt on the "Roller Coaster" captured by the camera

Passengers on a British Airways flight experienced a kind of roller coaster on Monday, when strong winds caused a dramatic swing of the aircraft as it attempted to land.

The London-Gibraltar International Airport flight was diverted to the nearby city of Malaga, Spain, where it landed safely, British Airways told the local press.

"At the approach of the Rock, I could not see any clouds but the flight took a slight dip and all of a sudden, it's as if everything had become uncontrollable," said passenger Ramesh Samtani at the Gibraltar Chronicle, adding:

"The plane oscillated from left to right and all we could hear was people screaming and shouting. It was very scary and people shouted "Oh my god" and prayed. "

Another passenger said he feared for his life.

"I was doing my last prayers," passenger Eli Hassett told BBC. "I thought of my children and my wife."

However, the passenger Kristis Bubnelis presented a much quieter picture of the scene aboard the aircraft and images to support.

"There was not a single scream, there was no screaming," wrote Bubnelis in an Instagram post. "I was at headquarters 16C. All I've heard is the laughter of my teammates about how the flight looked like a roller coaster. "

In any case, the landing seemed out of the ordinary, even for Gibraltar.

"Where we are, we see a lot of landings, but never as bad as that," said the person who filmed the film and did not want to have his name. "Glad to not be there!"

Gibraltar regularly draws up lists of airports that can give passengers extra chills. In addition to the strong winds, the airport is renowned for the highway that cuts its runway in two equal parts and must be closed for each plane. However, the airport said that online articles describing this term as "dangerous" were exaggerated.

"Landing in Gibraltar is no different or riskier than landing at another airport," says the airport's website, adding that limited flight volume makes it safer than many other international airports.

A plan was also put in place for the strong winds and the regular low visibility conditions, which was used in the present case: the aircraft was diverted to the Malaga airport and the passengers were sent to Gibraltar by bus.
