A breast cancer patient says she was physically and verbally assaulted outside of a treatment center in West Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Far-right activists who were angry at the clinic’s policy of mandatory masks gathered outside the Cedars-Sinai Breast Health Services building on Thursday and harassed patients and doctors, Vice reports.

Kate Burns, a patient at the center, approached the group and told them to leave. The exchange was filmed by a local videographer and posted on Twitter.

A protester asked her why she was so angry, and Ms. Burns replied, “Because I just had breast cancer f ******,” Burns said. “And you m ***** f ****** are here.”

“It has nothing to do with you,” replied a man. “We are trying to help.”

“It has everything to do with me and my community,” Ms. Burns said. “Do you know anything about chemotherapy? Do you know what happens to the immune system?

Protesters asked her if she was aware of the Civil Rights Act. “Go on the right side of the story,” one man told him. “You have a lot of anger that you need to release. It is a very dangerous emotion.

The situation worsened as more noticeable far-right anti-masks arrived and a confrontation between them and a group of anti-fascists developed.

A woman pushed Ms. Burns and hit her several times. Ms Burns said the woman punched her in the chest and touched her scars.

Thursday was the second time anti-masks have targeted this breast cancer clinic because of its mask policy. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center did not immediately respond to VICE News’ request for comment.
