Brendan Fraser is getting ready for his last role.
The 52-year-old is teaming up with director Darren Aronofsky to play the role of “morbidly obese recluse” in “The Whale,” Variety reported Tuesday.
The film, an adaptation of the play by Samuel D. Hunter, centers on a middle-aged, 600-pound man named Charlie who attempts to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter after abandoning his family for a gay lover. After his partner died, Charlie turned to compulsive eating to deal with his grief.
According to the outlet, “The Whale” received critical acclaim on its Off-Broadway debut in 2012. It won both the Drama Desk Award and the Lucille Lortel Award for outstanding acting.
