4The Phyllis Hamner Local History and Genealogy Room at the Briggs Lawrence County Public Library in Ironton will have new hours until October 26: Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am to 3:30 pm. records can also be requested by sending an email to genealogy @ briggslibrary.org.
The 4Briggs Library has taken over a comprehensive program of programs and activities for children, adolescents and adults. The public is invited to any Briggs Library event.
4 Adults are invited to learn Basic Spanish at the South Point Library at 2 p.m. on Monday. Taught by Johnathan McCormick, the class meets every alternate Monday, including October 18, November 1, November 15, and November 29. For more information, call 740-377-2288.
4Kids aged three to five and their guardians are invited to the weekly Preschool Story Time for books, songs, activities and more while developing early literacy skills: 11 a.m. Mondays in Ironton, 11 h Tuesdays in Proctorville, 11 am Wednesdays at South Point, 11 am Thursdays in Chesapeake and 3:30 pm Thursdays in Symmes Valley.
4Primary-aged children can create, explore, experiment and play in our new Kids Can… Club. Activities can include arts, crafts, STEM, games, and more! Join us for a different activity at each club event. This week’s Kids Can… clubs meet at 4:00 pm Monday at the Chesapeake Library and 4:00 pm Tuesday at the Ironton Library.
4Anime and Manga Club meets at Chesapeake Library on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Interested young people between the ages of 10 and 17 are invited to the member-run club to enjoy a variety of anime and manga-related activities.
4The Briggs Builders Lego Club for families meets Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Ironton Library. The library supplies the Legos and the children supply their imaginations. The Legos stay in the library, so bring a camera to capture the creations.
4Teens in grades 6 to 12 are invited to Teen MEET (Meet, Eat, Explore, Talk) twice a month. Hang out with other teens for activities, games, snacks and more. This week, teens meet at the Ironton Library at 5 p.m. Monday, the South Point Library at 5 p.m. Tuesday, the Symmes Valley Library at 5 p.m. Tuesday, and the Proctorville Library at 5 p.m. Thursday.
