Britney Spears deleted her Instagram account on Tuesday, September 14, after sharing a post thanking her supporters of the #FreeBritney movement.
On Twitter, Spears explained, “Don’t worry folks… I’m just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement !!!! I come back soon”

A source close to Spears said the decision was his. Spears also recently indicated that she will post less in the future.
Crowd Surf, the company that has long helped run Spears’ social media accounts, did not immediately return a request for comment. Instagram, meanwhile, confirmed Initiated that Spears’ account has been deactivated and Instagram has not deleted it.
By screenshot, Spears’ latest post contained photos from an article titled “Infusing Education with the Heart.” In the caption, Spears wrote, “Had to repost this so you could see the entire article! Growing up in a world where pretty much everything I did was controlled by someone else… I hope this message gets to people who have been confused or manipulated by a system! No… you are not alone and no… you are not crazy! People need to hear this before it’s too late! I waited 13 years and I count for my freedom! Once again… the #FreeBritney team, you guys fuck your ass! I love you so much and God bless you! “

Spears’ Instagram has been a big part of her battle for the conservation and evolution of the #FreeBritney movement. For many fans, Spears’ posts seemed like a rare and honest window into her inner world as much of her life was in the hands of her father, Jamie Spears, and her father, Jamie. The #FreeBritney movement actually started when two fans, Tess Barker and Barbara Gray, started the Britney’s Gram podcast in November 2017 to analyze the dispatches of the singer on social networks.
Spears’ decision to delete her Instagram account comes two days after announcing her engagement to longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari (the news was of course announced on Instagram). It also comes after Jamie Spears filed a petition last week to end his duties as the singer’s curator. The next hearing in this case is scheduled for September 29.
