The pop star Britney Spears announced on Friday that she was going to do an "indefinite work break" and suspended her residency in Las Vegas due to health issues endangering her father's life.

Spears made the announcement on Facebook, as well as in a message aimed at fans on his website. She wrote that her father had been hospitalized a few months ago and had almost died.
