Broncos head coach Vic Fangio’s announcements regarding the team’s quarterbacks on Wednesday went beyond saying Blake Bortles will not be training in order to limit potential exposure to COVID-19.

Fangio also said that Bortles, Drew Lock, Brett Rypien and Jeff Driskel were fined for violating the league’s COVID-19 protocols. Video of a quarterbacks meeting before Driskel tested positive showed that all four players did not wear masks consistently throughout the session. All four missed last Sunday’s 31-3 loss to the Saints.

Fangio did not disclose the amount of the fine, claiming only that it followed “the same fine scale” as other protocol violations. He also seemed ready to put the whole thing behind the team.

“It was a mistake,” Fangio said. “We paid the price with what happened in the game. It is time for all of us to move on.

Lock and Rypien are back in training on Wednesday and Lock is scheduled to start in Kansas City on Sunday.
