Broward Health Out Of Appointments For COVID-19 Vaccine After Expanding Eligibility

BROWARD County, Florida – Broward Health announced on Friday that there will soon be COVID-19 vaccines available for adults living with conditions such as cancer and pulmonary fibrosis, pregnant women, and people who are obese or who smoke.

The first available appointments quickly passed. According to Jennifer Smith, a spokesperson for Broward Health, patients belonging to one of the 18 groups at increased risk will soon be able to make an appointment for the vaccine.

“We encourage the community to frequently check BrowardHealth.org to find out when other vaccine appointments will be available,” Smith wrote on Friday evening.

Other eligible conditions are asthma, cancer, cerebrovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome, heart disease, hypertension or high blood pressure, immune deficiencies, liver disease, neurological disease, pulmonary fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, thalassemia and diabetes.

Only those who are pregnant, recently given birth, or have cancer will need a doctor’s note, according to Broward Health.
